A conveyor fed automatic-auto tie horizontal baler has a larger volume and throughput than a traditional manually fed vertical baler. But, the term capacity is relative in recycling. There are many things that determine the capacity of a baler. These are just a few:
- The types of materials being recycled. Every commodity has traits that make it unique, such as density, moisture, thickness, rebound rate, and more. A baler’s capacity for aluminum cans, for example, would be much different than the same baler being used for cardboard cores.
- The size of the feed opening and chamber. This is a more obvious contributor to capacity. The more volume the baler holds, and the larger the opening to feed material, the higher the capacity should be.
- The manner and speed in which the baler is fed product. A conveyor fed baling system is going to be able to generate a higher capacity than a manually fed machine.
- Machine specifications like ram force, system pressure, surface area of the platen, cylinder & rod size, motor horsepower, and more all help to determine how dense the bale will be, allowing for greater capacity.
