OCC
Old Corrugated Containers continue to show some of the strongest momentum in the recovered fiber market. The national average for sorted, baled OCC is now around $90 per ton, up roughly $10 from August and well above the $67 per ton average reported one year ago.

Mixed Paper
Mixed paper also moved higher in September, with national averages now in the $35–$40 per ton range. That is up about $5 per ton from August and slightly higher than this time last year.

PET
PET remains one of the more challenged major recyclable commodities. Post-consumer PET beverage bottles and jars are averaging approximately 2.61 cents per pound, essentially unchanged from August but roughly half the value seen a year ago.

Aluminum UBC
Sorted, baled aluminum beverage cans remain a bright spot, averaging approximately 96.56 cents per pound nationally. That is up modestly from August and significantly stronger than the 78.44 cents per pound average reported one year ago.

Steel Cans
Steel cans remain steady at approximately $198 per ton. While there was little movement from August, pricing remains considerably stronger than the $158 per ton average from September 2025.

Overall Market
September is showing a relatively stable recycling market with encouraging improvement in recovered paper. OCC and mixed paper have both moved higher, aluminum remains strong, and steel continues to hold its value. Plastics remain the weakest part of the market, particularly PET, where pricing continues near historically low levels.
