Senator Amy Klobuchar Visits Harmony!
U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar is the first woman elected to represent the State of Minnesota in the United States Senate. As a member of the Joint Economic Committee and the Senate Commerce Committee, Senator Klobuchar has been a leader in working to implement a competitive agenda to ensure businesses have the tools they need to grow and create good jobs in their communities. She has established herself as a key voice on workforce training and leads bills to boost apprenticeships, skills training, and community and technical college so that America can continue to compete on the world stage. Harmony Enterprises and Harmony Kids Learning Center were thrilled when her office contacted us to arrange a visit by the Senator during her recent time in Southeast Minnesota!
On Thursday, April 25th, Senator Klobuchar and her team visited our main production facility in Harmony, as well as Harmony Kids Learning Center, which is located adjacent to our company headquarters. Several Harmony employees and local dignitaries also took part in the walking tour. These included Steve Cremer, CEO, Harmony Enterprises, Ramon Hernandez, President, Harmony Enterprises, Lane Powell, New Business Development/Marketing Manager, Harmony Enterprises, Kinzee Hovey, Director, Harmony Kids Learning Center, Chris Giesen, CEDA, and Steve Donney, Mayor of Harmony.
Senator Klobuchar’s visit to Harmony focused on the importance of manufacturing to MN local economies, Harmony’s innovative products that help to make the earth a more sustainable place for generations to come, and how Harmony’s latest waste and recycling solutions like data driven technologies and I/O link quick lock controls will help our B2B customers save time, space, labor, and money managing waste, while improving their customer and employee experience.
We were also proud to showcase some of the new equipment that has helped to increase our production efficiencies, such as hoists, a brake press, and our robotic welder.
Part of the tour also highlighted the partnership between Harmony and Workforce Development, Inc. Most recently, Harmony Enterprises utilized a wage subsidy contract program through WDI to provide a regional welding student the opportunity to receive on the job paid training while she attended trade classes at Minnesota State College Southeast. Harmony Enterprises is also proud to be one of the first businesses in SE MN to leverage the WDI Incumbent Worker Training Program Grant, providing training and educational opportunities to existing employees to help them upskill and advance in the company.
The tour continued at Harmony Kids Learning Center where the Senator saw first-hand how Harmony assessed the needs of our employees and community and the action it has taken to address the childcare crisis affecting so many small businesses throughout the country. Executive Director, Umbelina Cremer and her staff were able to share the many successes of the childcare center, and the many challenges still facing childcare providers in SE MN.
