Harmony Honors Veterans
Veteran’s Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is celebrated every November 11 to recognize those who have served honorably in the United States armed forces. It coincides with the celebration in many other countries marking the anniversary of the end of World War I. Harmony Enterprises honors the service of all veterans and would like to thank them to the dedication to securing our sacred freedoms. It is through their sacrifice that we afforded the liberty we enjoy today.
Harmony Enterprises’ core focus is career, community, culture, and company. We are proud to share just a few of the ways we are celebrating our veterans in our company and community this year. We encourage all of you to consider how you might honor those who have served this Veteran’s Day.
Harmony’s New Memorial
Every year, the Harmony Area Community Foundation participates in Minnesota’s Give To The Max fundraising campaign to raise funds for various local community improvement projects. Both Harmony Enterprises and First Southeast Bank of Harmony have generously supported this cause with annual matching funds.
This year, Harmony Enterprises has teamed up with First Southeast Bank, Harmony Area Community Foundation, and the Harmony American Legion to help create a new veteran’s memorial in Selvig Park, located on Main Street in Harmony, just north of Fillmore Central High School.
The Veteran’s Memorial area will provide locals and tourists a place to reflect and show respect for our veterans. It will complement the veteran activities going on in the surrounding communities and provide another tourist destination within the Harmony community for those coming off the bike trail or driving through.
The memorial will include a new monument, flags for each branch of service, upgraded concrete in the park area, new electrical service and lighting, and two granite benches placed around the current memorial stone. Plans are for the memorial to be dedicated during Harmony’s 4th of July celebration in 2022.
If you are interested in helping out, you can donate online with a debit or credit card at bit.do/harmony-community-fund or by making a check out to HACF and mailing it to P.O. Employees Paying Tribute
Harmony employees area also doing many individual and group activities to show their appreciation for our veterans. They have the opportunity to participate in the singing of our National Anthem and recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance on Veteran’s Day, as well as a moment of silence with “Taps” outside of our facility.
In addition to that, a musical tribute to the souls laid to rest in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery located in Preston, MN will be performed in on the campus of the Rochester Technical and Community College on Thursday, November 18th.
“Hillside Echoes”, a piece written for concert band by Harmony New Business Development Manager, Lane Powell, will be premiered by the Rochester Community Concert Band at 7:00 PM in the Hill Theater that evening. This concert is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
The music was written to commemorate the sacrifices of all veterans and the importance of the state cemetery in Southeastern Minnesota. It will also provide all high schools in Minnesota with a playable piece of music for Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day performances in local schools, churches, and community events. Every high school in the state will have the opportunity to download a free electronic copy of the score and parts to add to their musical libraries for future performances!
This Veteran’s Day and always, we wish to thank our own veterans who work with us every day. We recognize their contributions to our country and company.
