According to Career Change Statistics, people will change careers at least 5-7 times in their lifetime. Not only is it rare to work in just one area of expertise, but it is less common to work for only one company during a career. Businesses and customers mutually benefit when knowledgeable and experienced employees are able to share their expertise on a long term basis.
Harmony Enterprises has been the benefactor of the dedication and service of two outstanding employees who have contributed a lifetime of service to our company. Brent Christiansen, Executive Vice-President, and Steve Sagen, Technical Sales Support Engineer, have been employed at Harmony Enterprises for a combined 60 years. These gentlemen have been models of our Core Values and continue to remind us of our purpose of Career, Community, and Culture. Both Steve and Brent have announced their plans to retire this month.
It is with gratitude and appreciation that we would like to honor their years of work and offer our sincere congratulations to them on this milestone.
Mr. Christiansen began his employment with Harmony Enterprises in 2004. His extensive skills in sales and marketing were first utilized by Carlson Companies in Minneapolis, MN. Following his tenure there, Brent worked with various MidWestern economic development groups meet the challenge of aging populations by implementing modern assisted living centers in their communities.
At Harmony Enterprises, Brent was an integral part of the growth and product diversity that took place during the past 14 years. He was influential in Harmony’s ability to sell their goods and services direct from the manufacturer, providing savings to all involved. Brent also developed Harmony’s current relationships with national accounts, bringing Harmony’s quality balers, compactors, and service to the national retail market. His work in all of these areas spurred Harmony’s growth from a mid-sized domestic company to an innovative global leader that serves satisfied customers in over 80 countries.
In his role as Executive Vice-President, Mr. Christiansen has been able to leverage his vast expertise to continue to set goals for the company, while mentoring his colleagues in sales, marketing, and operations. His caring attitude, candor, and wisdom have had a lasting impact on all of those who have had the pleasure of working with him. Following retirement, Brent plans to move back to his home in Hagerman, ID, and spend time with his family.
Mr. Sagen started his employment at Harmony in 1976. In his distinguished 42 year career with Harmony Enterprises, Steve has held the positions of Cost Accountant, Production Manager, Purchasing Agent, General Manager, Operations Manager, Director of Engineering and Design, Special Projects, Technical Support Engineer, and Quality Manager.
During this time, Steve has taken the lead role on many innovative projects, including solar-powered implementation, wireless monitoring technology, and quality assurance. He was also on the initial team that implemented the ISO standards at Harmony Enterprises. His work as a technical sales support engineer has allowed Harmony to be on the cutting edge of product development and improvement. His leadership skills, passion, and courage to make a difference have helped to catapult Harmony to the top of its industry sector.
Steve’s vast knowledge, ability to listen, and willingness to offer a friendly smile and support are just some of the things valued most by his colleagues. Following his retirement, Steve plans to enjoy golf, growing grapes, travel, and spending time with his family and friends.
It is because of the commitment and innovative spirit of dedicated employees like Brent and Steve, that Harmony Enterprises can call itself the global innovative solutions provider for the waste handling and recycling industry.
