Thought Leaders Strategically Think about Harmony
Over the past few months, Harmony Enterprises has enlisted the assistance of Enterprise Minnesota to guide us through the process of Strategic Management Planning. Part of this process requires digging deep into the company to define the organization’s structure as well as investigate external factors that will play a role in the company’s growth.
As a first step, Harmony Enterprises selected a group of department leaders to research various topics regarding the company and external factors. Each individual was to prepare a presentation based on the information they gathered on their topics. On May 15, 2012, the entire team and several guests, including additional plant and office employees, key vendors, and other area leaders that have had long business relations with Harmony Enterprises, gathered at a local venue in Harmony, MN to present their information.
Presentations began with Steve Cremer, company president, defining the company’s Mission and Vision. Other topics included defining the core values of the company, customer’s needs and wants as well as employee and owner needs and wants, the marketplace, technology, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, internal and external conditions, a look into financial aspects, and company structure. These presentations offered a wide range of information about Harmony Enterprises, from its history and current state to what the goals are for the future.
Many of the presentations reinforced the company’s core value of family and team work.
All guests in the audience were invited as “thought leaders”. Their role was to listen to each presentation, and jot down suggestions, questions, thoughts, etc. on sticky note pads – one thought per sheet. At the end of the day, these notes were all collected to be reviewed by the team the following day. These thoughts, suggestions, and questions were then reviewed and categorized and became an intricate part of helping the leaders of Harmony Enterprises develop their Strategic Management Plan.
As this process progresses, a complete roll out will take place for the entire “family” at Harmony Enterprises. It will reinforce the company’s mission, vision and objectives for the future, as well as the important role that each plays in reaching these goals.
The Management Team at Harmony Enterprises would like to extend a big “Thank You” to all the employees, vendors, and partners who took the time to spend the day brainstorming with us, as well as the team at Enterprise Minnesota. Your insight and ideas are invaluable to us.
