These amazing machines handle 11x more waste than normal garbage containers while saving on hauling costs, labor, and trash can liners.
The SmartPack installation coincides with the recent opening of the state-of-the-art terminal, making LaGuardia a unified 21st century facility. Passengers moving from the brand new arrivals and departures hall to their gates do so on a revolutionary skybridge over an active taxiway, leading to an island concourse. To enable customers to shop and dine while waiting for their flights, concessions are centralized post-security in a main commercial district of the new Arrivals and Departures Hall with some of the best retail, food and beverage amenities.
Harmony’s SmartPack no-touch automatic compactors are placed strategically throughout the food court and walkways to compact waste and collect recyclables at their source, while improving the traveler experience. Each compactor has a photo eye that senses the approaching patron, opening the large no-touch waste door and compacting the waste right after it is inserted. This keeps cans from overflowing and the entire area looking clean and sanitary!

SmartPacks are equipped with Insite Technology, a wireless text/email system, which alerts staff when a compactor is partially full, full, or requires attention.
