Trash Management In A Virus Resilient World
The Covid-19 pandemic has immediately changed many aspects of daily life and business operations. The implementation of social distancing and the need to create virus resilient work places or areas with direct customer contact have also changed how people handle waste management.
Per CDC recommendations, organizations should use standard protocols for managing all types of waste. For example, categories such as laundry and food service utensils should be managed with routine procedures.
Harmony recognizes the additional assurance, sanitary precautions, and psychological benefits provided when your employees and customers don’t have to directly handle waste or other recyclables.
That is why several of our products are designed to reduce the frequency of touches and exposure to virus contamination. Consumers, employers, and employees all value the benefit of the more safe and sanitary environments created by Harmony’s innovative solutions, like Harmony’s SmartPack Automatic Trash Compactors. This is especially truewhen they are equipped with IoT (Internet of Things) technology.
Standard Features Being Leveraged For Fewer Touches & Increased Sanitation
Many of the standard features of our popular SmartPack compactor have become even more desirable in a “no touch”/social distanced society. These are a few benefits of SmartPack that help to make public and work areas even more virus resilient.
Every SmartPack has an adjustable photo-eye sensor that senses patrons approaching from just a few inches up to several feet away. Unlike the sensor found in many other models that require the plane of the door opening to be broken before the door opens, our sensor identifies the user approaching before they breech the door with their trash or tray. Consumers can make trash deposits without touching any part of the compactor. This, in turn, reduces the risk of touching a potentially contaminated surface.
Automatic Compaction Cycle
SmartPack can be pre-programmed to compact trash into the waste cube on after a set number of trash deposits. There is no need for a consumer or an employee to push a button to initiate a compaction cycle. This also eliminates unnecessary touches and exposure to surfaces.
Portable Wheeled Waste Cube
SmartPacks come standard with a two-piece wheeled cube and durable 3 Mil gussetd waste bags that allow staff to remove the full trash without exposing the area to any contamination due to spills or leakage.
Employees can utilize one of Harmony’s many models of lift carts that make dumping the waste cube contents into an outdoor compactor easy for any employee. As before, this eliminating the need for them to be exposed to potential leakage or spills of lifting the bag out of the waste cube.
Stainless Steel Interior
Sanitization of surfaces has become more frequent, and sometimes has involved cleaners with a higher alcohol content. The stainless steel chamber and platen allow SmartPacks to be cleaned frequently with industrial strength sanitizers without corroding the steel.
This helps to ensure the safety of both staff and customers over time, while providing additional longevity of the compactor.
Using IoT To Reduce Staff Time & Exposure
Harmony’s SmartPacks use IoT technology to send staff SMS/Email alerts when the compactors are almost full, full, or need servicing. Higher level IoT scenes can be created to allow staff real-time views of larger grounds or multiple locations at any given time. Our Insite Tochnology (Harmony’s branded IoT solution) also helps with tracking and planning for population densities and scheduling in a virus resilient world.
What Insite Can Do For Your SmartPack:
- Insite Technology allows staff to limit their time in customer areas, reducing population densities.
- It also protects both the consumer and staff from unnecessary contact or exposure.
- Historical data and predictive analytics allows owners to create schedules for staff that not only optimize use of time for other important duties, but also for more predictable times utilizing proper social distancing.
- Can use reports to show cost savings and plan for even more effective use and placement.
Harmony understands how important IoT technology will be in a socially distanced society. We are meeting the challenge by offering special pricing on Insite Technology for SmartPacks. We are waiving the initial fee for hardware purchases to allow businesses to begin to use the benefits of this innovative system.
SmartPacks For PPE Collection
Many customers have asked for solutions for PPE collection in public areas. As more municipalities and businesses require the wearing of masks, gloves, or other items, more people are being careless with how they deposit these items, once they are worn. It has not been uncommon to see store parking lots littered with PPE gear on a daily basis.
SmartPack is the ideal solution for PPE, especially when integrated with Insite Technology that alerts staff when the compactor is almost full and needs to be emptied. The powerful hydraulics and stainless steel ram provide have an industry-leading 11:1 compaction ratio. This helps to ensure that the PPE stays compacted in the waste cube with the loading door closed, instead of being strewn about public areas or overflowing in a traditional waste can.
