Harmony SmartPack and The French Open – A Perfect Match!
The French Open has become synonymous with superb tennis, beautiful venues, and an interactive audience engagement. Like many other major sporting events, it strives to utilize innovative and sustainable waste solutions that enhance the guest experience. Partnering with our subsidiary office, Harmony Europe, located in Toulouse, France, Harmony Enterprises is proud to feature its SmartPack Automatic Compactors at this major event for the fourth straight year.
For 2018, Harmony installed 24 of these money saving compactors in strategic locations throughout the grounds. All 24 of these compactors were outfitted with the cutting edge technology in our Insite Wireless Monitoring system.
Why SmartPack Automatic Compactors?
Large venues like the French Open have thousands of visitors on at their location every day. In addition to the normal steady flow of patrons, concession areas and gathering areas experience a large increase in traffic in-between matches. There is an obvious up-tick in the need for efficient waste management on a large scale during these times.
Traditional garbage cans cannot handle these large influxes of trash. The waste piles up too quickly, leaving garbage spilling out of the container. They leak liquid, have odor, and attract insects. They also require constant emptying by staff, creating cost and time management issues for grounds crews.
Harmony SmartPacks are 10X more effective in collecting waste than a normal trash can. The sanitary “no touch” automatic door allows guests to deposit trash without coming into contact with the machine. Each compaction cycle is extremely fast and quiet, allowing for more trash to enter the machine quickly. The overall savings on trash related duties adds up to nearly 70% with the SmartPack Automatic Trash Compactor!
SmartPacks are also attractive, with availability in any color or cabinet style to match any decor. In the case of the French Open, they were able to be wrapped in colorful vinyl with the sustainable branding elements of the host event.
When paired with Harmony’s Insite Wireless Monitoring, the combination is unmatched! Insite detects when the compactor is partially full, full, has a door left open, or has a problem with power. These alerts are sent instantly via text message or email to the staff so that they can manage trash on a “just in time” basis. This allows them to use their time on other important job duties related to the event.
The Insite dashboard is completely customizable for each customer, allowing them to have large overhead views of all of their assets in their current states, all the way down to each individual status of each individual asset. This makes it easy to monitor a large group of assets at one time from a control room type of setting.
More Than Just Savings
At the completion of the event, not only will the managing company have realized a great deal of savings in labor and trash bags, they will also have the data necessary to make accurate forecasting for next year’s event. Harmony will utilize this data to create the most efficient mapping of assets for the location, as well as peak times for scheduling of staff and resources.
Harmony Enterprises manufactures balers and compactors for satisfied customers in over 80 countries worldwide. In conjunction with our Harmony Europe team, we are able to effectively manage waste handling and recycling for highly visible events like the French Open, in any location.
