Harmony Enterprises Inc. to Receive DEED Award for Job Creation
Harmony Enterprises Inc., manufacturer of recycling and waste management equipment, has recently been selected by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) as one of first five projects to be awarded funding under the new Minnesota Job Creation Fund.
Harmony Enterprises, Inc. (Harmony) provides worldwide waste management and recycling solutions through manufacture of waste compactors and recycling balers. They will expand their current operations in Harmony, MN and will add 14 full-time, permanent jobs and invest about $1.1million. The company will receive up to $215,000 from the Minnesota Job Creation Fund.
Steve Cremer, President of Harmony Enterprises Inc., is excited to have the opportunity to further grow their manufacturing business in Greater Minnesota. Cremer explains, “The tax credits will help Harmony Enterprises Inc. provide competitive wages and benefits to our employees while still offering competitive prices for our customers. It is a win-win for all of us. The City of Harmony is also providing an incentive with Tax Increment Financing (TIF).”
Harmony Enterprises, Inc. has big expansion plans in the works. Cremer points out, “Harmony Enterprises will be adding a 6,000 square foot addition to our production facility in Harmony, Minnesota. This new space will provide us additional production and quality control space, as well provide for a drive thru shipping area to more efficiently load and unload trucks.”
About the MN Job Creation Fund and DEED
The Minnesota Job Creation Fund launched January 1, 2014 and is a new, pay-for-performance program provides up to $1 million to businesses after they meet certain criteria, including minimum requirements for job creation and private investments. Under the program, businesses must create at least 10 full-time jobs and invest at least $500,000 to be eligible for financial assistance. The program is available to businesses engaged in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, technology and other eligible activities. Companies must work with the local government (city, county or township) where a project is located to apply to DEED to receive designation as a Job Creation Fund business.
