What’s In The Stimulus Package?
The CARES Airport Program provides $10 billion in relief for US commercial & general aviation airports.
The CARES Airport Program includes a whopping $10 billion, yes – that’s billion with a “b”, toward commercial and general aviation airports across the United States.
One thing that is important to note is that with the new legislation, the US Government will burden 100% of funding for the Airport Improvement Program. In the past, Airport Improvement grant winners were required to provide a matching contribution of the the airport improvement costs.
Here are three other important “take-aways” from the CARES Airport Program all airport executives should know:
- Of the $10 billion earmarked for airports, $7.4 billion can be used for just about anything airports want to use it for.
- An additional $2 billion has been slated for Airport Improvement Programs, which funds specific airport projects.
- The CARES funds will be issued from the general fund, rather than from the Airport and Airway Trust Fund.
