So, what happens when this industry leader is asked to develop a solution for a local childcare learning center?
Going Outside of the Box
Recently, Harmony Kids Learning Center improved the landscaping and overall outdoor play area of its facility in Harmony, MN. With increased enrollment and weather conducive to outside activity, they needed a way to beautify their premises, while offering educational and nutritional benefits to their students.
The challenge was to create a planter that was aesthetically pleasing, large enough to accommodate a range of herbs and vegetables, and functional in terms of depth of soil and moisture drainage. The products grown in this garden will be used to enhance the daily nutritional offerings of the daycare.
Not only will the students learn how to plant, grow, and cultivate valuable commodities, they will also understand their role in the cooking and seasoning process. It allows them to take pride in their work and value the end benefit of a job well done.
Planting Seeds
Harmony Enterprises holds Community as one of its company’s core values. Donating time, financial assistance, and products to the shared community have been a common practice in its half-century of operation. Harmony was more than happy to help design, manufacture, and deliver the solution to the learning center’s needs.
Rather than rush through the job to “get it done”, the Engineering, Production, and Service Departments collaborated together to make a planter that met all of the criteria mentioned above. A steel tank was donated by a local family, the Scheevel’s, to use in the manufacturing process. Once completed, the Harmony staff helped to situate it on an elevated bed of rocks for drainage and even painted it Harmony yellow!
The students planted their seeds and began to grow the plants this summer. It will not be long before they will be able to see the fruits of their labor. The staff at Harmony Enterprises sees the children at Harmony Kids as the future of our community and an investment well spent.
