Harmony Enterprises is always excited to share stories of customers who are having success in their recycling and sustainability programs using our quality recycling balers and trash compactors. We especially enjoy highlighting businesses who have achieved this success over the course of several years, providing further evidence for our equipment longevity. One of our most recent stories about our long lasting vertical balers came from our home state with G&S Manufacturing in Courtland, MN.
G&S MFG. is a family-owned industrial metal fabrication shop that has been operating since 1994. Their services include welding, fabrication, material handling, industrial trucks, pain, and beam processing. Their facility has over 87,000 square feet that they use to create items of all shapes and sizes. With this type of production space and volume of product, they naturally have operational byproducts that need to be recycled, rather than paying haulers to simply throw them in the waste stream.

That’s why in 2007, they invested in a used Harmony M60MD Low Profile Vertical Baler. They acquired it at an auction featuring equipment from a New Ulm, MN company for only $350! This space-saving baler fits under a normal 8′ ceiling and helps them compact, bind, stack, and transport 800 lb. mill-sized bales of cardboard, saving their operations time, space, labor, & money while promoting sustainability within their community. Using the baler has also helped them to gain operational space and reduce unnecessary hazards in their production areas.
They recently reached out to us for a repair quote on a relief valve only to learn that their machine was actually manufactured in October of 1988! We quoted them both the repair and a replacement baler, and they decided to go ahead with the repair parts on their long lasting vertical baler.

According to co-owner, Laura Stadick, “This baler has been awesome and really helps to recycle cardboard. It fits our needs really well!”
She continues by saying, “We save labor costs by not having to cut down boxes and haul them to a recycling center. We save shop production space as the baler is compact and great for storage, plus the savings of the boxes not going in the dumpster. It also prevents the cardboard from stacking up on the floor and being a potential fire hazard. We believe in recycling where we can!”
While we would love to sell them a new machine, we are proud of the longevity and amazing return on investment our vertical balers have for our customers. We hear from more and more customers of vertical balers lasting multiple decades with consistent use.
That is due to the incredible design and master craftsmanship of Harmony’s engineering and production teams!

Sustainability Shout Out!

G&S employees recycling their left over paint as a part of their sustainability practices!
Not only does G&S recycle cardboard with a Harmony baler, G&S recycles where they can, including collecting used solvents and paints from their paint booths and running it through a “distiller” to reuse the product for cleaning our their paint guns, lines, and equipment. That’s a wonderful example of “walking the walk” when it comes to making the earth a more sustainable place for generations to come.
We appreciate businesses like G&S who understand the value of recyclable commodities and do their best to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
