Recycling in the South American country of Chile presents challenges unique to that geographic area. To carry out a full recycling process, given the Chilean geography, where the capital is located in the middle of the country and everything is very centralized, the products must be transported to Santiago for destruction and treatment of their contents. As a result, significant problems arise for brand protection, since destruction of the product as soon as it is defined as substandard is the preferred option for the customer. Efficiency and transportation costs are the most significant of these problems.
To help meet these challenges, two innovative solutions providers, Harmony Enterprises, Inc. and Resifast have teamed up to provide Chile with affordable efficient solutions to recycling.
The History Of Resifast
The company’s operations began by providing recycling, picking, container re-sorting and substandard product handling services to large beverage distributors in Chile, and gradually identified processes that could improve their efficiency through the use of innovative technologies.
The cornerstones of this Chilean company are waste valorization, process automation, circular economy, commitment to the environment and corporate social responsibility. Through comprehensive services, they provide innovative solutions to their customers for warehouse operation, waste management, and brand protection. They work diligently to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency, among others.
A True Partnership Approach
Resifast’s partnership with Harmony Enterprises Inc. was born through their quest to improve these recycling processes in Chile. Through its representation of Harmony Enterprises, tand given how innovative it was for Chile to bring a vertical compactor and liquid extractor to market, Resifast secured government support to bring their first Harmony machine to Chile, the ExtractPack Vertical Liquid Extraction Baler. Resifast calls it their “Liquid Baler”.
This space-saving liquid extraction baler perforates, drains, and bales out of spec beverages 10x faster than by manual processes. It is efficient enough to handle a pallet of beverages in less than 20 minutes!
ExtractPack/Liquid Baler punctures aluminum, PET, and TetraPak with its sharks teeth system. Residual liquid pumps through a screen filter to a drainage system that includes a removable storage tank that can be customized to meet the specific needs of the client in terms of the liquid’s waste management. The resulting aluminum or plastic bale is tied and placed on a spill-containing pallet.
“Overall, the results we have achieved have been amazing. Customers have saved transportation and warehousing costs, having total control over the destruction of substandard product, and ensuring that 100% of the liquid is disposed of in treatment plants for recycling.”
-Paulina Varas, Marketing Director at Resifast
Aiming High For The Future!
With the incredible success of Harmony’s ExtractPack in Chile, Resifast plans to offer a line of intelligent waste compactors, Harmony’s SmartPack Automatic Compactor.
SmartPack has an efficiency that is unmatched in the market, due to its incredible compacting power of 11 to 1, which results in great savings in labor, floor space and transportation. The compactor has automatic opening when approaching and a monitoring system for its filling level, all features that make it an attractive product for our customers.
For this year, Resifast’s goal is to consolidate their presence in Chile and, starting next year, show our current customers the advantages of these products in their facilities in the additional regions of South America. This will enable a new standard in waste management, while enhancing the efficiency of the processes and making them more environmentally friendly.
According to Ms. Varas, “Our ultimate objective is to be the premier benchmark for innovation in integrated services for the management and solution of industrial substandard product and compaction of household waste. We have operations teams that meet the needs of each customer, skilled to perform the functions of sorting and treatment of waste at each company premises, thus guaranteeing a successful result contributing to the comprehensive waste management program of each industry and to the Chilean regulations that require high environmental commitments. The segmented compaction of household waste will facilitate the application of the new EPR (extended producer responsibility) law regarding the collection and recycling of non-returnable containers.”
Harmony Enterprises is proud to partner with Resifast to help them achieve these environmentally sustainable objectives in the country of Chile. This partnership aligns with Harmony’s goal to be the solutions provider for waste and recycling that offers a wide range of solutions with a true partnership approach.
