National First Responders Day
Every October 28, National First Responders Day reminds us to pause and recognize the brave men and women who step forward when emergencies strike. Firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs, and paramedics answer the call—often risking their own safety—to protect our families, neighbors, and communities. Their work is demanding, unpredictable, and essential to the well-being of every town and city.
The Heart of Harmony Enterprises
At Harmony Enterprises, this day carries special meaning. We’re proud to share that several members of our team also serve as first responders. Among our welders, technicians, and office staff are volunteer firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and search-and-rescue personnel who leave their homes—and sometimes our production floor—at a moment’s notice to respond to a call.
These colleagues bring more than technical skills to their roles. The training and discipline required to handle crises translate into the workplace as well: clear communication, steady decision-making, and an unshakable commitment to safety. Their dual service exemplifies the same values that drive our company mission—protecting people, improving communities, and delivering reliable solutions.
How We Support Their Service
Harmony Enterprises recognizes that being a first responder requires flexibility and understanding. We provide scheduling accommodations when alarms sound, and we encourage team members to share their experiences so others can learn about the challenges—and rewards—of emergency service. By creating a workplace culture that values public service, we hope to make it easier for employees to balance both callings.
Gratitude Beyond National First Responders Day
Recognizing first responders isn’t just about a single day on the calendar. It’s about supporting them year-round—by giving them the freedom to respond when their pagers go off, by thanking them for the extra hours they contribute to the safety of our towns, and by sharing their stories to inspire future volunteers. Their dedication reminds us that community strength depends on people willing to step forward, often in the most difficult circumstances.
We would like to take this moment to honor those Harmony employees who serve as first responders:
Kyle McIntyre, Harmony Fire and Harmony Ambulance
Larry Nolan, Harmony Ambulance
Jason Magnuson, Canton Fire Department
Ramon Hernandez, Preston Fire Department Chief
A Call to Action
This National First Responders Day, we invite everyone in our community to show appreciation in their own way:
-
Say Thank You: A heartfelt word of gratitude or a handwritten note can mean more than you realize.
-
Support Local Departments: Consider donating equipment, funding, or your own time to fire, police, and EMS agencies.
-
Stay Prepared: Follow safety guidelines, learn basic first aid, and create an emergency plan for your family—because preparation helps first responders help you.
From all of us at Harmony Enterprises, thank you to the everyday heroes—especially those on our own team—who put service before self. We appreciate how you live our core values of career, community, culture, and company in your everyday lives. Your courage and commitment keep our workplaces and neighborhoods safe, and we are honored to work alongside you!
