Harmony’s Incumbent Worker Training Program
Through our relationship with MN DEED and SE MN Workforce Development, Inc., we were one of the first businesses in our area to apply for and receive the Incumbent Worker Training Program grant.
Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) is business-driven funding assistance for qualifying employers to improve the skills of their workforce with new or upgraded work skills. It supplies marketable expertise to employees, can build and maintain a quality workforce, and is designed to assist employers to retain a skilled workforce or avert layoffs.
With this program, training for individual or groups of employees an take place through public or private educational institutions, trade associations, community-based organizations, economic development agencies, unions, or government agencies. Training can be conducted at the business’s own facility, at the training provider’s facility, or at a combination of sites. All training must be completed within a year and earn some type off accredited certification of completion.
We have several employees that are taking advantage of this annual program to provide career advancement with Harmony. Some of these include employees involved with human resources, engineering, and sales. After our first round is completed, Harmony will look to expand this program to additional employees with the understanding that continuous improvement makes our people, process, and products better!
