What’s In A Generation?
We hear a lot about people using generations as measurements of time. Harmony Enterprises is a third-generation, family-owned manufacturer whose fourth generation currently serves as Vice President of Operations. We are proud that our Minnesota based company has served our industry and community for more than three generations.
Each generation of owner and committed Harmony employees has helped to grow our business into what it is today. As the solutions provider for waste handling and recycling, Harmony Enterprises also prides itself on making the earth a more sustainable place for generations to come.
How long is a generation? What is the impact of something lasting that long?
According to most scholars, a generation lasts approximately between 25-30 years in length. Each generation leaves its footprint for the next generation to follow. Harmony Enterprises believes that the environmental actions of today will have long-lasting effects during the lives of our children and grandchildren.
Generations of Environmental Stewardship
Another environmentally friendly business that has left a positive impact on its community for over a generation is the Wayne County Recycling Center in Honesdale, PA.
Located in the Northern Pocono Mountains, The Wayne County Recycling Center was among the first recycling centers constructed in Pennsylvania. It serves communities that participate regularly in voluntary, not mandated, recycling programs.
Their tonnage of recycling commodities is comprised of the following accepted materials:
- Glass Bottles
- Newspapers
- Metal Cans
- Magazines
- Mixed Paper
- Plastic Bottles,
- Cardboard (can be mixed together with chipboard)
- Scrap Metal
- Appliances (even those with refrigerant)
- Textiles
- Tires
This progressive recycling center goes above and beyond, using recycling to help those in crisis situations. Wayne County Recycling acts as a drop off site for cell phones that are donated to the Victim’s Intervention Program of Wayne and Pike (PA) counties. This program offers support to and empowers victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, or other serious crimes.
How Do They Meet The Recycling Needs Of All County Residents?
In order to meet the recycling needs of all county residents, Wayne County Recycling developed and implemented a countywide system of drop-off sites, which are strategically located throughout the county. Currently there 14 municipal sites that are staffed by local volunteers, and are open on various Saturdays throughout the month. The county provides roll off containers and collection & processing services to these sites. The materials are processed at the county facility, where they are then shipped to market.
A Generation Of Service
Another way that Wayne County Recycling is able to meet the recycling demand of the community is through the use of their T60XDRC Automatic Baler. Harmony’s T60 is widely accepted as the industry standard baler of recycling centers around the country.
Not only do its users experience the benefits of feeding larger volumes into the hopper and up through the rear conveyor, the automatic cycling allows recycling centers to continue baling material until the completed bale is ready to be ejected. With a state-of-the-art PLC, this innovative baler provides the power and durability required by all types of commercial and municipal recycling centers.

The conveyor system allows the T60XDRC to automatically bale large volumes of recyclables safely and easily!
The benefit that Harmony customers experience more than any other brand is through the longevity of their recycling equipment. Harmony’s T60XDRC balers are proven to stand the test of time.
Wayne County Recycling has been operating its Harmony T60XDRC since 1995 – for a full generation! With their baler, they are able to bale magazines, news print, and steel cans at a high rate of efficiency. While most other brands of balers last a decade at best, our T60’s are lasting generations.
Randy Heller, Wayne County Solid Waste Director/Recycling Coordinator states, “The T-60 is one of our original balers and has done an amazing job for us! It always makes a tight and heavy bale, and the fact that we’ve had it this long speaks to its reliability.”

The fact that their baler has lasted nearly 25 years is evidence of the return on investment and lowest total cost of ownership provided by Harmony Enterprises’ Automatic Balers.
Harmony Enterprises applauds the efforts of the Wayne County Recycling Center and encourages more local, county, and state level municipalities to participate in recycling programs that benefit their residents and the environment. The actions we take today will have a lasting effect on generations to come.
