Recycle our Waste Lewistown (ROWL) is doing some amazing things in the small town of just 5,000 people in Montana. Almost 3 years ago, the seed of an idea to start recycling their plastic waste began in their community. Where others may have stopped at the challenge of not having a building to collect, sort, and bale the plastic, ROWL saw an opportunity. They operate their recycling center with a M30HD vertical baler, powered with a generator, and stationed on a trailer parked in an open lot, one Saturday a month. Last year, ROWL recycled over twelve and a half tons of plastic!
Plastic recycling is growing in popularity nationwide. The statistics on the energy saved with recycled plastics, as well as the environmental benefits of not having large quantities of plastic in our landfills or oceans is clear.
