Not All Liquid Extraction Balers Are The Same!
Harmony Enterprises is the leader in the design, manufacturing, sales, and service of liquid extraction balers. We’ve been hearing a lot of noise in the industry lately about other manufacturers offering vertical liquid extraction balers as alternatives to our innovative ExtractPack Vertical Liquid Extraction Baler. Some are even marketing standard recycling balers as liquid extraction balers.
While we encourage you to do your due diligence and research all of your options in the marketplace, we also want to make sure you understand the differences between some of these less expensive, and perhaps “cheaper” balers that are not specifically designed for product destruction and liquid removal, and our long lasting ExtractPack. Continue reading to learn about the “NTK’s” (need-to-know’s) when buying a liquid extraction baler.
NTK’s When Buying A Liquid Extraction Baler
Your vertical liquid extraction baler should have a space-saving design, but enough power to completely destroy out-of-spec product. Harmony’s ExtractPack meets both of these requirements with a small 33 square foot operating area with an incredible 56,550 lb. ram force!
In addition to having enough ram force to destroy full bottles or cans, your liquid extraction baler should, at a minimum, have these key features:
Stainless Steel Construction
It should go without saying, but a liquid extraction baler should be made out of quality U.S. stainless steel, at the very least wherever liquid touches the baler. This includes areas like the inner chamber, liquid reservoir, etc. If not, this should be a definite red flag and a non-starter for you as a consumer.
Given the corrosive nature of soda, beer, energy drinks, and even water, regular mild steel will rust quickly and significantly reduce the life expectancy of your baler. The reason some companies can offer their lesser extraction balers at a lower price is that they are not made to withstand these harsh environments. They are made with traditional mild steel and do not consist of any stainless steel on the baler. Stainless steel is more expensive and takes more time and care in fabricating and welding.
Harmony’s ExtractPack is made of stainless steel anywhere liquid touches the baler and has direct to metal painted mild steel on other parts of the baler. This has led to them being some of the longest lasting liquid extraction balers available on the market.
Ways To Perforate The Product
PET, aluminum, or Tetra Pak containers can be stubborn and hold their rigidity, especially when they are full of liquid or unused product. Your liquid extraction baler should be equipped with something to help puncture or perforate these containers to allow the liquid to drain out fully.
Harmony’s ExtractPack has innovative “shark’s teeth” on the platen to ensure maximum liquid removal.
Liquid Reservoirs With Filters & Pump Options
A liquid reservoir made out of stainless steel should be a standard, not optional feature of any liquid extraction baler. These reservoirs should hold larger quantities of product, have some type of filter, and have easily accessible ports to drain the liquid away from the machine.
Harmony’s ExtractPack has a large 51 gallon liquid reservoir, filter screen, and a durable 3″ drain port, and optional sump pump system to help drain the liquid away to your drain or tote.
Additional Benefits Of Harmony’s ExtractPack
While the items mentioned above are essential “must have’s” for a liquid extraction baler, here are some additional benefits of Harmony’s ExtractPack:
