Harmony Sponsors Lego Contest
Harmony Enterprises is recognized worldwide as the waste and recycling industry experts, with proven competencies for solving our customer’s problems related to operational trash and sustainability. Our innovative recycling baler, trash compactor, and full product destruction machines help our customers save time, space, labor, and money managing waste, while generating recycling revenue and enhancing the customer and employee experience.
Part of what allows us to lead in our field are the talented people that design and create our wide range of long lasting equipment. Harmony is passionate about supporting all areas of career exploration, especially related to engineering and design. Because of this, we were proud to sponsor the Lego building contest at the Fillmore County Fair for the third consecutive year. Harmony recognizes that the next great mind and talent for building environmental solutions can be sparked through participation in events such as this!
This year’s fair was from Monday, July 21 through Sunday, July 27. The Lego contest took place on Wednesday, July 23rd at 1 PM in the Commercial Building on the fairgrounds in Preston, MN, as a part of the West End Contests.
There were two categories of participation:
- Lot 1: Ages 10 & Under
- Lot 2: Ages 11-17
Participants brought their own builds that fit within a 24×24 inch design area.
Committed To Community

Harmony’s President Ramon Hernandez, and New Business Development Manager, Lane Powell with the 2025 Lego Contest participants.
Not only is Harmony Enterprises sponsoring the 3rd annual event by providing cash prizes and certificates for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes in each category, members of Harmony’s Leadership Team were on hand to judge the Lego builds that day.
These judges established the scoring criteria and rubric that includes points awarded for:
- communication of theme
- overall creativity
- originality
- use of space
- use of color
Contestants were asked to talk through their designs, what they are, how they came up with their idea, and how the mechanics of their Lego builds work. These descriptive narratives provided insight to the creativity and design of each product.
Enthusiasm and interest for the contest continues to build as there were 12 young participants this year, submitting nearly 20 different structures! The designs ranged from motorized vehicles to food stands, food trucks, design homes, Jurassic themes, dragons, helicopters, and more! We would like to congratulate all of the participants and especially the six winners this year. The thought, preparation, and creativity put into each model was exemplary!
