The History Of Labor Day
Many people view Labor Day as the end of summer and the beginning of the school year, often coinciding with the start of the football season. While it symbolizes a change of season in the U.S., its meaning holds much more significance. The first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City in 1882 in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. According to the Department of Labor, “Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.” Harmony Enterprises would like to take this opportunity to celebrate our employees on Labor Day, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and excellence in manufacturing products that make the earth a more sustainable place for generations to come.
Honoring Harmony Employees On Labor Day
Harmony employs approximately 75 people in our rural Southeastern MN community of about 1000 residents. As the areas largest employer, we appreciate the contributions each of our employees make to enrich their career, community, culture, and company, improving not only the lives of their families, but the economy and quality of life in our larger area.
Harmony employees are amazing people! We are fortunate to have some of the most skilled production members and talented office staff in our industry. With low turnover, many of our employees have been with Harmony for the majority of their careers. Several of them have taken advantage of the opportunities for career advancement afforded to them by a career in manufacturing and at Harmony.
Without their commitment, innovation, passion, courage to make a difference, and desire to enhance our shared experience, we would not be able to consistently provide the widest range of long lasting waste handling and recycling solutions available on the market. Its these core values that bind us as a company and promote a positive work culture for our greatest asset, our people.
Improving Efficiencies For Employees
Not only do we want to publicly recognize the importance of our employees, but know how important it is to put our words into action, not just through engagement events like dinners or golf outings, but by providing training opportunities through partnerships with organizations like Workforce Development, Inc.
We also know how important it is to stay up-to-date on production technologies that increase worker efficiencies and safety. That is why we have invested in things like our robotic welder, new press brake, and more.
Did you know that our recycling balers and trash compactors can help you improve the efficiency of your employees too? They help to reduce the time, space, labor, and money needed to manage operational byproducts in your business, while keeping work areas clean from hazards, vermin, and odor. This not only creates a more positive work environment, it helps to improve your company’s bottom line!
