Every Great Business Has A Great Story!
One thing that successful small businesses share is a great story. Often times, it involves seeing a need gap and providing a unique product or service to fill it. The story behind locally owned and operated Cape Cod Gutter Monkeys, based in Mashpee, MA, is no exception. Cape Cod Gutter Monkeys is gutter cleaning and installation company that serves satisfied customers throughout the greater Cape Cod, MA area.
The business was founded in 2014 by former Bentley College (Waltham, MA) roommates, Andy Brennan and Dennis Siggins. Although they both had different career paths for 33 years, friends Andy and Dennis saw the need to fill an industry niche in the underserved gutter cleaning market of Cape Cod. They decided to go into business together and haven’t looked back since! The company has grown so much in the past six years that both of their wives, Nancy and Barbara, now manage the office. In six short years, Gutter Monkeys has grown to having eight trucks and fifteen employees!
What sets them apart as a service business? They perform year-round cleaning and maintenance of household gutters and roof systems. They also offer professional seamless gutter installation and repair for residential and commercial applications.
This is especially important in the Cape Cod area where the coastal climate promotes moisture and wind blown debris that clogs gutters. In short, their claim to fame is that they help Cape Cod residents protect their largest investments, their homes and businesses!
Protecting Our Largest Investment – The Environment
As a gutter cleaning and installation business, Cape Cod Gutter Monkeys sees its share of extruded aluminum product. Whether its the removal of existing product from a home or commercial building, or scrap pieces of new product, there is a lot of extruded aluminum to go around.
In an effort to reduce their waste footprint and related expenses while increasing operational and storage space, Cape Cod Gutter Monkeys partnered with Harmony Enterprises to purchase a M30HD Vertical Baler. This small heavy-duty recycling baler has a powerful 4.5″ cylinder and durable hydraulics to make recycling aluminum pieces safe and easy for their staff. With a fast 37 second cycle time, their M30HD produces 2-3 250 lb. bales that measure 24″ x 30″x up to 30″ for CCGM per week.
Not only does recycling help them clean up projects, increase storage capacity, and improve workplace safety, it also provides this innovative small business with an additional revenue stream where there once was a waste expense. According to co-owner Dennis Siggins, they save on disposal and are able to earn several thousand dollars per year with their aluminum recycling. That not only provides a fast ROI on their Harmony baler, but allows this community-minded business the ability to donate their recycling proceeds to a deserving charity.
“We save money on disposal as well as bring in a few thousand dollars per year. We actually donate all recycled aluminum revenues to a wonderful charity.”
