Building Hope: Harmony Enterprises’ 2025 Canstruction Food Drive
As winter approaches and our community braces for the year’s challengers, now is a time when generosity matters more than ever. At Harmony Enterprises, we’re gearing up for our annual “Canstruction” food drive — an event that brings together creativity, teamwork, and impact in a powerful way. This year’s build will take place on Tuesday, December 16th.
Why 2025’s Canstruction Matters More Than Ever
In recent months, local food shelves have seen a noticeable uptick in requests for help. Across Minnesota, food-shelf visits are rising as families face increased economic pressures and benefit programs shift.
That means our upcoming food drive isn’t just a fun holiday tradition — it’s a meaningful opportunity to step up and make a difference for neighbors who are feeling the squeeze right now.
How It Works: Creativity Meets Community Impact

Last year’s winning safety group team!
Here’s how our Canstruction event comes together:
-
Employees are divided into safety groups and encouraged to brainstorm ahead of time with ideas for their “build” — that is, the canned-goods sculpture they will construct.
-
Each team brings in canned goods (and other non-perishable items) to donate, and the more varied the sizes, colors, and shapes, the more inventive the build can be. (And the more good we do with our donations!) Community donations are also encouraged and information on where to donate them is listed below.
-
At the event, teams get a designated build time. Pre-constructs are not allowed. Teams must stack, bind, and fabricate their builds on-site, using the canned goods themselves as their materials. Creativity, use of space, color, dimension, and even lighting can all play into the design.
-
Once all builds are complete, they’re displayed and judged by a group of distinguished Harmony business persons, chamber members, and residents. They are then donated at one time to the SEMCAC Preston – Food Distribution Center for families in need. According to their website, “SEMCAC’s four food shelves provide individuals and families with a variety of nutritious food and the opportunity to stretch limited household budgets. The food shelves are sustained by monetary donations, donations of food and personal care items. Donations are needed year-round!”
The 2025 Challenge: Let’s Beat the Need

Maintenance Supervisor, Travis McCabe loading up the first bunch of donations during Canstruction last year.
For 2025, our goal is two-fold:
-
Exceed last year’s donation volume. With need clearly up, we want to collect even more cans and non-perishables than ever before.
-
Demonstrate teamwork and community culture. This event is about employees coming together across departments, showing our culture of caring, and reinforcing Harmony’s commitment to our community beyond business.
On build day, teams gather, construct, and present their creations. Then, once our builds are complete, everything is loaded for delivery to our local food shelf. It’s a visual show of generosity: pallets of canned goods, stacked high, ready to serve the community.
Why Your Donation Counts
Every can, every boxed meal, every pasta package adds up. At a time when many food shelves are experiencing greater demand than ever, our contributions will help bridge the gap. The spirit of the season is stronger when we channel it into action. It’s not just about competition or fun — it’s about doing good, together.
If you would like to help donate non-perishable food items to our event, please bring them to our main office and production facility located right on the north side of Harmony on the East side of Hwy 52: 704 Main Avenue North, Harmony, MN 55939.
Bring your cans. Bring your heart. Help us make 2025 our biggest, most impactful Canstruction yet!
