Harmony Is Laser Focused In 2025
Harmony has long been focused on creating long lasting solutions for waste handling and recycling. Our mission is to help businesses save time, space, labor, and money managing waste, while enabling them to recycle and make the earth a more sustainable place for future generations. This year, Harmony is laser focused on improving the quality and efficiency of our production process. To help achieve our goals of continuous improvement and reduced lead times we have enlisted the assistance of our local partner, First Southeast Bank of Harmony to purchase our first laser cutting machine.
A laser cutter in steel manufacturing is a machine that uses a high powered beam of light to precisely cut through steel sheets, melting or vaporizing the metal. This process allows for intricate shapes and designs to be created with high accuracy and clean edges.
At Harmony, our laser cutter is used to cut shapes out of large pieces of sheet metal ranging from 18g to over 1-1/4″ in thickness. These pieces are used in many of the parts needed to fabricate our long lasting recycling balers and compactors.
Our current plasma table has served us well during the past several years. But, increased demand for our quality products, as well as a desire to increase capabilities of what our current machine could do led to our decision to purchase of this new technology to use in conjunction with our existing unit. This helps us to reduce costs and reduce production time needed to deliver the exception quality products you have come to expect from Harmony Enterprises.
How Harmony’s New Laser Increases Efficiency
Our new laser cutter is a Hans G3015HF, sold and supported by Sominn. It has a 5′ x 10′ processing area and three axis tracks.
These important specifications, along with several other features, provide benefits that allow us to increase our production efficiencies through its use.
For example, Harmony’s laser:
- Has a high cutting speed, reducing production time per part
- Cuts through the thickest of metals, including mild and stainless steel
- Cuts complex shapes with precise detail, allowing for customization
- Allows for very precise cuts with minimal tolerances, reducing rework
- Is Non-wearing for a flawless edge finish
- Only cuts exactly where needed, minimizing material waste
- Uses less energy when cutting – using nitrogen, oxygen, and air
- Can be easily integrated into automated manufacturing systems
Production Assistant, Geoff Langreck shared his excitement about the positive impact this new machine has had on our staff teamwork and will have on our throughput. “The Laser Table presents us with a future of innovation and advancement of a higher quality production line. It’s exciting to witness all the hard work from many of the staff members here together on this project and what it will help us achieve down the road.
This new machine is capable of much higher tolerances at much greater speeds than we’ve had ever before and creates more cooperative opportunities throughout the factory in general. It is one of the best investments this company has made in my time here.”
